looking for a unique setting for your wedding in an
authentic castle steeped in history with personal
service and attention to detail Traquair is the
ideal setting for the most important day of your
life. With our own Catholic chapel and a license for
civil ceremonies you can be married in the house or
in some of the magical areas of the grounds. Smaller
more intimate receptions can be held in the main
house or we can erect a marquee in front of the
house or in the old walled garden for larger
weddings.

three spacious double bedrooms furnished with
antique furniture, canopied beds, private bathrooms
and central heating. If you require additional

Directions by road
From Edinburgh City Centre:
Leave City Centre on the A702
At Biggar Road turn left onto the A703 (sign posted
Roslin/ Peebles)
Follow A703 to Peebles
Once in Peebles take the A72 (sign posted
Innerleithen)
Once in Innerleithen take the B709 (sign posted
Traquair)
Follow the B709 to the War Memorial then take a
right and follow over the bridge, take the 1st right
and you have reached your destination.
Directions by rail
Train will take you to Edinburgh, Waverely Station.
Then follow Road Directions.

Enjoy
a day reliving the past. See the bed belonging to
Mary Queen of Scots, the superb collection of
Jacobite glass, the extraordinary eighteenth century
Library and the secret stairs used by priests in
time of terror.
Traquair House offers a wide and exciting range of
tours and events throughout the year. Traquair tours
range from our free-roaming pass to an exclusive
guided tour with Lady Maxwell Stuart herself.
As well as the House, Traquair also has extensive
grounds to explore which include the maze that is
planted with 1,500 trees! and the play ground of
willow tunnels.
Why not take lunch in the old walled garden at the
1745 Cottage Restaurant then have a wander through
the woodland walk which boasts some of the oldest
yew trees in Scotland or take a tour around one of
the oldest working breweries in Britain dating back
to the eighteenth century where all the delicious
Traquair House Ales are available to sample and
purchase. Also set in Traquair grounds are several
independent craft shops, the Traquair gift shop and
the Traquair brewery shop for you to pick a souvenir
or two.
