Thanks to childhoods filled with Disney movies and royal weddings, many dream of an old country manor snuggled amidst acres of private woodland and unspoilt countryside. A place with a chandeliered ballroom, delectable fare and a sweeping staircase that seems almost purpose built for a bride making her grand entrance. A place like Raemoir.

Situated just outside Banchory and only twenty minutes from Aberdeen, Raemoir is a beautifully refurbished Georgian house that provides the perfect backdrop for a fairytale wedding. Tucked away at the end of an extensive tree-lined drive, the first impression is one of grandeur, but step over the threshold and it feels just like home, which is exactly how owners Neil and Julie Rae encourage you to think when planning your day.

With an emphasis on exclusive use for weddings and other special events, the award-winning venue literally becomes your personal country retreat for the weekend. From the wood-panelled sitting room with oversized armchairs and roaring open fire to the ballroom with its flock velvet wall coverings and sweeping views of the grounds outside, your event can be tailored to suit you and your guests.

Wedding Options

In House

Raemoir has several private room options. The Garden Room is a charming room overlooking the front grounds. It is perfect for an intimate, private dinner, holding up to 16 people at one table. The majority of our ceremonies take place in the Oval Ballroom complete with its Grand Chandelier, flocked-velvet wall coverings, oak floor, commanding views of the grounds, and open fireplace. For house parties the Oval Ballroom transforms in the evening to its original use – the Ballroom.

The Georgian Room is the largest of our rooms in-house and ideally seats 60-70 people for dining, depending on the configuration. Depending on the requirements of the day and the number of guests, rooms can be hired individually or together.

Marquee

The Marquee is usually in place from March to November and is subject to availability and supplier’s tariff. In its standard format it will seat up to 250 but it can be divided down to suit smaller numbers or extended to allow enough room for 360 diners and a dance floor so the options are extensive.

Exclusive Use

Raemoir is available on an Exclusive Use basis for one or two days which allow you the sole occupancy and complete privacy of the hotel and grounds for your own use. Our packages are tailored individually and can start from as little as £5,000 depending on your requirements.

Accommodation

Raemoir House, voted Regional Country House Hotel of the Year for the last 4 years by the Scottish Hotel Awards, offers one of the most traditional and comfortable experiences in the area.

With a choice of 18 ensuite bedrooms all individually decorated in a traditional and elegant style with a mix of fabulous views over the gardens to Royal Deeside beyond, generous space and classic four poster beds we have a range of rooms to suit all tastes and budgets. There are 14 rooms in the Main House, with an additional 4 in the 300 year old “Ha’ Hoose”.

Whilst traditional and rural, the hotel embraces the demands of the modern traveller and provides flat screen digital TVs in all rooms and complimentary wi-fi access.

Approximately 25 minutes drive from Aberdeen Station. If you are travelling by train you might want us to pick you up at Stonehaven Station and take you to Raemoir which is the scenic route avoiding the city centre.
