Welcome to the historic 14th century Balgonie Castle, situated in the heart of the Kingdom of Fife and perched above the winding River Leven - home of the Laird, Younger and his family of Balgonie and Eddergoll.

In recent years, Balgonie Castle has been undergoing a slow but detailed restoration to return it to it's former glory with great effort being made to preserve its unique atmosphere.

Balgonie Castle is the only castle in Scotland with a Chapel dated to 1250, offering a very real early medieval experience.

We have the original 13th century Great Hall and original 1496 Lundie Hall.

We are also unique by offering a real courtyard within the the walls of the main castle.
The Chapter Hall, Chapel and Great Hall are kept in original design which includes candlelit and vaulted ceilings.

The Lundie Hall is a new ground floor reception area, restored from the original 1496 kitchen of the castle.

Balgonie Castle is perfectly situated in the centre of Fife, less that an hour's drive from Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth and Dundee, about two hours from Glasgow and two and a half hours from Aberdeen.

On The Day

We also can provide a licensed Catering Kitchen for one of our preferred Caterers. The Photographer, Videographer, Decorator, Drinks and Meals to have, are all up to the Couple.
The hire of the Great Hall also includes the use of the vaulted ground floor room of the Tower. Due to the remarkable acoustics of the Great Hall, and out of consideration for others wishing to engage in conversation, no amplification is permitted. Features, including the original stone window seats, the rebuilt minstrels gallery, the heraldic banners of the past Lairds of Balgonie and a finely carved door commemorating the visits of James VI and Mary, Queen of Scots.
